I devote 90 minutes to the initial evaluation. During this time, I will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your current symptoms, discuss your past medical history, and focus on your goals for treatment. I will answer any questions you might have - as well as share my initial thoughts, and discuss treatment options.
We will spend our sessions “digging in the dirt” – finding and analyzing pieces of the past that may be preventing you from feeling your best. As we identify stressors, I will give you tools to help overcome them. The goal is to create a toolkit you can use both today – and in the future.
Medication can be very effective in helping patients feel better by targeting and treating symptoms. I encourage patients who use medication to combine this treatment with psychotherapy - as therapy can help us resolve the underlying causes of the symptoms.
When you start feeling better, these routine follow-up appointments provide an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of a medication, discuss any breakthrough symptoms, and re-evaluate whether our treatment plan continues to align with your goals.
